About Rachel

A FEW THINGS ABOUT ME.  At my core, I am a woman seeking to live well and savor life in Christ. I'm gunning to hear Him say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." I feel that life is ...

too short to spend on things that don't matter, and too valuable to waste on things do not satisfy. Therefore, I'm into crafting a satisfying life that honors God. My One Word for 2012 is CREATE.

A Few of my Favorite Things:

Books that expand my mind and faith - Starbucks coffee - almonds - music that ushers me to God's throne - music that makes me walk faster on my treadmill - girlfriends' nights out - wide open vistas - moving stories well told - the smell of puppy's breath - reading with my toes in the surf - Nutella with fresh fruit - scented soy candles - leisurely family dinners - new journals - the shape of a glass goblet - walking the beach as the day starts or fades - weekend naps beneath a chenille throw - watching the Olympics or the Winter X games - mopping my floors  - and discovering a quaint coffee shop or bookstore during my travels.

My Background:

I'm a Southern girl from Virginia with a sometimes wry sense of humor. I have a strong love of God and learning, and a penchant for fun. I live with my husband and two children on the North Carolina coast.

I hold a undergraduate degree in journalism.  And a master's degree in communication, from Regent University. I enjoy teaching and I'm on the faculty of the University of North Carolina in Wilmington.

In addition to teaching, I work with Proverbs 31 Ministries as a writer and speaker. For many years I served as Editor in Chief of Encouragement for Today, the ministry's online devotional. Now I'm writing books and coaching others to create the lives they are meant to live as a certified life coach.

Purpose Behind this Blog:

To sum up, I'm a word-geek who has fallen in love with the Word Made Flesh. What I'm after is a happy, productive life that honors Christ. On this goal I have many answers, and some questions.  You probably have some of both as well.  Let's trade those here.

I generally post here 2-3 times a week.

I invite you to also follow me on Twitter or friend me on Facebook.

(PS. I heart Twitter!)

Warmly ~ Rachel
