Fresh Direction

So far in 2010 God has me on a "taste and see" journey. I've been praying for vision, and He's begun pouring it on. Strong - like trying to drink from the proverbial fire hose.

I asked in a post at the start of the year how we can number our days aright in order to present to God a heart of wisdom. The answer I'm arriving at has a tremendous duality to it. I’m enthralled with the notion that life in Christ is simultaneously about stewardship and serving, and about enjoyment and rejoicing. It’s about both discipline and pleasure. The impulse is strong to make it one or the other, but God does not.

My heart is slowing down in 2010 to focus on both discipline and pleasure, and I'm so excited to see what wondrous paths He leads me down this year. I'm already catching little glimpses of eternity along the way. Look for changes ahead on this blog, in my ministry, as well as in my life.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!! You look beautiful. I LOVE the staircase. The whole look is tasteful. How lovely! Enjoy!

Rachel, remember recently you said sometimes you think our haerts beat in tandem (or something like that)??? You expressed here so articulately and beautifully what God has been showing this year, too:

  3. I love the new look! What a beautiful website!

I've read your blogs for awhile and at times I feel like we're reading from the same page.

This year, I've not only been seeking God's vision, but just seeking God for the sake of knowing Him more.

I recently challenged our small group to spend 15 minutes a day with the Lord, just basking in His presence. Quiet before Him. Just loving that we get to love Him. It's been such a joy.

I love your correlation between stewardship and serving...and enjoyment and rejoicing. It isn't either or, it's all the above.

Thanks for the sweet reminder and allowing us to get a glimpse of what God is doing in your life. You are truly a blessing!

  4. I LOVE your new bloggy look!! Wow! And, how God is slowing you down this year to better enjoy and serve Him. I know where you are coming from. We simply must let Him be in control at all times.

    Hugs!

  5. Rachel,
I love your beautiful new "face" on your blog! Your words today made my heart beat fast, because I feel I'm on the same journey. Last year was the year that God continually whispered "I love you" to a heart that had become off balance in pursuit of service. This year I believe He is going to bring me to new places of delight in His service.

So glad to be walking with you!

  8. Look at your blog, hot mama! I love it! Is that some of the pleasure, I hope? And not a royal pain in the ministerial rumpus?
I completely agree with you in that we try to put God in a box and he is SO much bigger than our little one line definitions. Thanks for that great reminder!
