Happy Thanksgiving!

“Open for me the gates of righteousness;
I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.”
Psalm 118:19 (NIV)

Gratitude is such a powerful force! It lifts our perspective, mood and spirit. In fact, I believe it can usher us into the presence of God.

So I invite you to look for reasons big and small to give thanks today. The reasons begin as soon as we open our eyes and raise from our bed. We can thank God for another rising sun to light and warm our day, to ripen our food, and to cause winter flowers to bloom. Now you tell me, what you are thankful for today?

If you want to know more about the power of gratitude, and you missed my "Thank You Power" devotion earlier this week, pop over here to read it. I think you'll be inspired.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it was His guidance that brought me here. I am thankful becasue God has truly poured into me this past year and you contributed to that. Be blessed amd I wish you and your family a Thanksgiving filled with the joys of heaven as You give thanks to the Lord for the marvelous things He has done. Glory to God!

  4. I am especially thankful for our grandchildren - the reward for a job well done they say. I give very special thanks for the baby twins Taivian and Selena born 10 weeks early this year. They are now nine months old and thriving. I give thanks for all the prayers offered for them at their birth and during those early months. It was a hard time but the Lord blessed us totally.

    Blessings to all reading this.
Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all.

  6. I am thankful for many things this day. At the first of the year God implanted this thought in my heart, "Be Ready" I did not know what this year would bring, but I trusted in the Lord. In this year we moved from the town that I have lived for 41 years, had tremendous financial pressure(more than i have ever felt even as a single mom), my oldest son and 2 neices have all gotten married within a short time of each other, my mother went through breast cancer and surgery, and now my middle son has admitted to an addiction to pain killers while being on the Deans list at college. The Lord intervened with a random drug test that they have never done before at his work place. I am thankful that the Lord is faithful to answer prayers. I am thankful that he carries you through storms and he is with me. I love my family and I love my Lord!

  9. I am most thankful for my husband being in remission from cancer. We have truely been blessed in more ways than I can count. We are unable to be with family this year due to distance but have friends who asked us to join them. What a wonderful day...I pray for continue blessings for our fellow soldiers and military families everywhere that we are not with this year. God bless!

I am so thankful that we live in such a time where it is so easy to connect with like-minded people. To me, that is an awesome blessing.

I am also thankful for my family and that I'm able to spend the holiday with them.

  13. This morning I awoke to spend time with our Father before I moved from bed. I began expressing my gratitude for the tangible things in live often taken for granted by Americans: shelter to live in, running water, heat, blankets, shoes, socks, jackets, hats & gloves, vehicle, ability to walk, health & wellness, employment, finances ... after a longer list of blessings then my focus shifted to the intangible blessings: measure of faith and fact that faith as small as a mustard seed is enough, hope in Christ, work of Calvary; salvation, being clothed in His righteousness, forgiveness, healed by His stripes ... love, joy, peace ... I meditated on peace then continued with the other fruits of the Spirit. I thought about our brave men and women abroad in our armed forces and my heart poured over with gratitude. Freedom to worship and freely attend assemblies of believers and proclaim His Word is not to be taken for granted especially on this day of thanksgiving.
His grace to you (love the encouragement for women devotionals!) Jill

  14. I am thankful that my husband's health has improved and because of that he can work this year. That the baby girl that 7 yrs ago doctors told us not to expect much from made the dance team at her dance studio. That my best friend is winning a battle against breast cancer the doctors didn't think she stood a chance to win.

There are so many torn apart families in this country and world and I am thankful to have such an awesome, loving family to celebrate with! May we invite those who don't have family into our homes this season! May GOD Bless you and your ministry and everyone reading this!! :) Julie

  18. I am thankful for so many things I read in the comments listed here, but above all I will never tire of thanking God that He knew me; better than I know myself: and yet He chose me for His daughter, kin, family to live and reign forever together. Only He and I know what potential for bad and evil were there and now: washed white as snow, redeemed, the righteousness of Christ.

    Amazing grace.

  19. Being English and living in Ireland thanksgiving does not mean much to me but I still benefit from the sentiments expressed. Here in Ireland it is extremely cold (at least by Irish standards)and everything was covered in thick white frost this morning. After 2 years of knowing we have holes in the roof and no underfelt the roofers will finally finish work tomorrow. I am so thankful that we wont have to endure another winter without a decent roof or insulation. I would appreciate prayers for my grandson. He only started walking a couple of weeks before his second birthday the doctor said it's because he has loose joints but I have learnt last week that this condition is nearly always linked with dyspraxia. This is a horrible condition which affects a persons coordination among other things making them clumsy accident prone and very often unable to do a lot of things most of us take for granted. Thankfully so far he hasn't shown any sign of this condition, please pray that he is one of the rarities who do not develop htis condition.

    THANKYOU
