i HEART my church

Hey all. So my pastor and I team-taught on the topic of lust in all 3 of this weekend's services at my church. It went fairly well, and I had a blast doing it. I HEART my church very much. :) God just does such cool things in and through the many terrific people who worship and serve there. They excel at being inventive, encouraging love, helping out, and worshiping together (see verse below). My thanks to those of you here who prayed over this project for me.

The audio from one of the services is up on the Internet, and they might post video later this week. Here's the link for those of you who had asked to hear it. Just click on the word "Listen" to the right of the entry for 03.15.09 once you get there.

"So let's do it—full of belief, confident that we're presentable inside and out. Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let's see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching."

Hebrews 10:24-25 (MSG)

  2. Glad it went Rachel! And what a blessing it is to "heart" your church and the people there. I hope to get a chance to listen too.

  4. Just finished listening... Thank you for sharing! You both had some profound things to say... things I will ponder and 'tuck away'...

Thank you for the ideas of how to guard ourselves as women... and I had to laugh at your analogy that Potifer's wife was "the first desperate housewife"... too funny... and too true!

Anyway... good stuff! You are using your God given talents! Keep it up!

P.S. What did you end up wearing???

  5. Hey 5Skis,
My church is quite casual so I wore dark jeans and a long sleeve turquoise top that's really hard to describe. (My pastor had on jeans too.) I'm usually a little dressier when I speak at other churches.

  9. I really enjoyed listening to the message.
One thing that really jumped at me was a phrase from your pastor..If it is appealing to us physically, it will kill our souls. So true.
What was so appealing to me 18 years ago did kill my soul.
This is a personal journey I have just begun. I am gaining knowledge every day. It is not an easy journey but I know I am not walking it alone.
Thank you for giving us this link today.

  10. Sorry to leave a message here. Just the email thing doesn't seem to work well. Did you have a chance to ask your people about the illustration? If they didn't like it, it is fine to run it the way you had it. I was just curious.

  11. Hey Amy. If you tried to email me this weekend, including Friday or Monday, I had apparently had some email issues because I've learned there are several messages I never received. I'll email you tonight!
