Alive

Welcome if you've come over from my devotion today at Proverbs 31.

My pastor has a saying ... think about it for a moment:

"Every longing at its core is a longing for life."

John the Baptist said, "What counts is your life. Is it green and blossoming? Because if it's deadwood, it goes on the fire. I'm baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. The real action comes next: The main character in this drama—compared to him I'm a mere stagehand—will ignite the kingdom life within you, a fire within you, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out." (MSG)

Jesus is always the key to life - our lives have their source and fulfillment in Him.
Longing to feel truly alive today? Immerse yourself in worship - in Him.

I'm hoping to get back to the beach today. Got another chapter to work on first - but can't wait to wade into the water as my reward when I'm done.

  1. Loved the devo. My hubby was in Israel this year with our church and he went into the Dead Sea...which you can only float on because it has so much salt content...a healing quality. Amazing facts we learned about God's Dead Sea...which is ALIVE!

He is the Bread that satisfies and fulfills! Thank you Rachel!

We are heading to the beach in a few days...can't wait to dip my feet in the ocean and splash around! Nothing like the ocean speaks of His majesty, wonder and power!

  2. Absolutely loved the devo.I used it to pray for my children today. Two of them are in Managua, Nicaragua on a mission’s trip.

I pray they will choose to be green and blossoming wherever they are planted. Being ignited with Holy fire, causing them to plunge deep into His River to be spiritually alive and in tune with Him today and always.

Thank you so much for your sacrifice of obedience to Him.

Pray Pro18:4 over you...the Lord will continue to give you godly Wisdom that is like a gushing stream [sparkling, fresh, pure, and life-giving].

  3. Your P31 devo was so timely!

I have been struggling with several areas of discontent and have been trying to commit verses to memory that are calming to me. I have been trying to stay focused on believing God for the near future, that where I am will not always be, but I still need to work on it to really get there.

Your devotion was helpful in that the scriptures showed how Ezekiel was led to the level of water that he could trust God at, then when he had completed that task, God took him deeper, allowing him to build his faith to see him though no matter how deep or how much work would be involved to get to the other side.

    Have a blessed day!

  5. I saved this devo to read on the day of my first triathelon (Aug 2, 2009). I read it early in the morning and visualized my self in the River of God; instead of the lake I was about to get in to swim a half mile.... I was not a swimmer 5 months ago! I also listened to MWS's song River of God. I survived the swim and even enjoyed every bit of it, I just keep remembering I was in the River of God, what a perfect place to be. God is faithful. Thank you so much for this devo, it was a God send to me. I am Alive in Christ.
