Today is the first day of your decision to read the Words of God regularly for the next six weeks! We're going through the women of the Bible. If you haven't already, you can read the ground rules in my last post, called "Ready to get started?"
So, are you excited to get to it? Well, grab a cup of something warm and open up that Bible - it doesn't matter which translation.
Today's reading is Genesis 2:18 through Genesis 3:24.
If you prefer to read it online, click here and then you can choose which translation you want to see it in.
Remember, today we'll read and reflect, and tomorrow we'll do a little more dissecting and discussing.
Once you've completed the reading,
post a comment here letting me know you did it!

SO we recently read this in my boble study class and my sisters pointed out that it said Eve was deceived was Adam chose to sin. It was kinda good to read that since women have been getting a bad rap forever as the temptress and the reason for the fall. I know it may be a silly point considering all we lost but....

I've been receiving the "Encouragement for Today" email daily and sometimes get to it and sometimes don't due to being busy. I opened Friday's and was encouraged to go further and open Rachel's story. I am so glad that I did. I have been looking for a way to get back to my daily walk and this is the perfect opportunity. Praise God!

ReplyDeleteI read it!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled..this is just what my Monday morning needed...to have discovered this group. I read the scriptures, still amazes me the serpent was able to "talk/communicate" with Eve..glad he lost that attribute! Apparently though it never crossed her mind that this creature was talking, I think they'd had conversation before this...just like sin slowly enters our thoughts...slowy but surely the serpent gained Eve's listening ear. Maybe she was curious when this serpent spoke to her, maybe she was awestruck, maybe it did cross her mind she shouldn't make friends with a talking snake but non the less, she did, she listened and she fell into the trap of believing the wrong thing.

ReplyDeleteThank you for motivating us to do what we already know we need to do! I am looking forward to this study. I did the reading today and a thought struck me that after Adam and Eve sinned, God no longer gave them access to the tree of life! But they had been free to eat from it if they chose before they sinned. Hmmm...I'll post more on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! This was just what I was looking for.

ReplyDeletei completed the package, its amazing to see where the devil was cursed to belong yet he really takes credit for where he shouldn't be.because we allow him when we dont keep God close by.keep it up guys;for the lord.lets open up our hearts to mother for him,he placed us on earth and created enmity btween us and the serpent.lets put the devil where he belongs.we are under cover agents for our lord and one has to be commited to go thro the whole journey coz its not easy and since ur a threat to the enemy, dont dare turn back coz he will be waiting in earnest.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You Rachel Olsen for being a tool in God's hands that He is using in MY life.

ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteI DID IT. I am so glad to have come across this . Thanks Rachael. It's really going to help me be more focused with my bible study.
Can't wait to read other's perspective of the passage.
However, here is something i have always wondered about.....
Was Adam right there with Eve when the deception show was going on? Or did Eve later persuade him to partake?
I ask this because i strongly believe that women, whether we admit it or not have a way of making our husbands do things our way in many instances. Of course this persuation is usually subtle and tactical ( without coming across as pushy. Otherwise, they dont agree).
If i am right in my opinion, then it means we have to be really careful as women with how we use this influence we somehow have over our husbands or else we might lead them astray like Eve( assuming that was really the case)
I stand to be corrected and will love to read what others have to say about this.
Lolls
