Sweetness

Like millions of Americans, I watched the American Idol final last night where Kris Allen won. I must say, besides his musical and vocal talent, and his sweet boyish charm, I'm most impressed with Kris Allen's character. He is a believer (church musician, gone on missions, etc.) who shows what it means to conduct yourself humbly, even as you are lifted up. It makes me smile.

So does his response upon being reunited with his wife on the stage after winning:

Pop over here to read Lysa's thoughts on it - it moved her heart too. I pray his faith, character and marriage stay just as strong through the years to come.

Speaking of years to come, I'm signing off now ... today is my 16th wedding anniversary. Sweet!

  1. I did not keep up with the American Idol this year but my husband did so I got called to see a few things. I was glad for the one that was chosen. There was something about him (I did see him a few times) that bothered me.
    Now I know why.

  5. I was surprised because I really thought Adam would win. But I was very happy it turned out this way. Adam will be successful with his rock music and I really do think he's very talented. His type of music is not my favorite though.

Kris came from behind and I love stories like this. He's a great singer and very humble. Although Simon tries to get him to be more self centered, I just think his personality is more reserved. I really pray that the fame will not go to his head. I felt sorry for his wife at times because I think the TV cameras didn't want to focus too much on her. I think at the beginning of the competition I remember Simon saying something about downplaying that he's married. So, I hope that Kris will not give in to that kind of thing.

I loved the photo of he and his wife embracing. How precious!

  6. Congratulations on 16 years! That is great. I was pulling for Danny or Kris.
I felt that Adam had a voice, no doubt, but the is a dark side there. Praying that the spotlight does nothing but glorify God.

  9. I was happy for Kris too, though I thought they were both incredibly talented and deserved to be in the finals. I'm sure Adam will go far in the music biz if he continues to develop his creativity and originality. Sometimes it's better for people to NOT win the competition, as I believe they've got fewer restrictions, etc. So, I think it worked out great for both of them. I wasn't a big fan of Adam's at the beginning, but I came to admire his showmanship and talent, and I hope he does well.

Was it not the most adorable thing when Kris and his wife were hugging on stage? They seem like a very special couple. (And so cute! Both of them--could be any cuter? I think not!)
