"For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do." ~ Galatians 5:17 (ESV)
Thankful for this Bread of Life.
I'm a key-board Worship leader in our little church and I sometimes fight the thought that I made mistakes and it didn't flow like I thougt it should, but God keeps letting me know that He is the One that flows in our midst and that my perfection doesn't alter His ways.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rachel, for your blog & devotional on the subject of perfectionism. I suffer from this most in the area of cleaning my house. I'm embarrased to have anyone see the less than perfect condition it is in, so I wait for that perfect time to invite people over....which then only makes me fail in 2 ways, a clean home & hospitality. Looking forward to what the Lord will teach us this week as you address this tendency in all of us.
ReplyDeleteI am a perfectionist at home. I nitpick every little detail I should've "fixed" while guests are there instead of just truly focusing on their company and friendship. I am striving to do better through prayer and prioritizing!
ReplyDeleteI am passing this along through email to all my friends. Great devotional! Plan to buy the books soon!
