Happy Valentines!
Wish you could exchange Valentines with Christ today? Try this. Slip out of your seat, and ease to your knees. Quiet your spirit and close your eyes. Take a couple deep breaths. Then declare to Him your love. Appreciate His sacrifice. Marvel at His majesty. Tell Him how strong your desire is to be close to Him. Pause in silence and let His affection wash over you. Let His presence enchant you.
Isaiah says, "Your God will rejoice over you."
Want a more tangible way to show Christ your love? Follow this link and joyfully take the opportunity to care for Him as He describes in Matthew 25:34-40.

Plans for Tonight
Got any special plans for today or tonight? Rick and I plan to eat at home tonight, then maybe go out for a movie (The King's Speech), or maybe just for dessert (something chocolate or key lime). Here's what I'm thinking of making us ...
Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Alfredo
cooked fettuccine
1-2 Chicken Breasts
1 Red Pepper
2 cups Heavy Cream
2/3 cups shredded Parmesan Cheese
1 tsp Garlic minced (or you can use powdered to taste)
Pinch of Sea Salt
Basil or Parsley leaves for garnish
1. While grilling the chicken, roast the red pepper on the grill. Just place it on the grill and roast until the outside is completely charred black. Then put it in a mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap to steam itself. Set aside 5-10 minutes.
2. Run roasted pepper under cold water until you've peeled away the charred skin. Slice and remove seeds. Puree into a paste in a food processor or blender.
3. Start water to boil fettuccine, angel hair or spaghetti. (I use Barilla Plus or Dreamfields brand.)
4. In saute pan, over medium to med-high heat, warm the red pepper paste, heavy cream, garlic and salt. Reduce, about 6-8 minutes. Stir the shredded Parmesan in slowly.
5. Either add the noodles into the sauce, or top the noodles with the sauce. Add sliced grilled chicken breast on top. Add an extra sprinkle of shredded Parmesan. Then garnish with a parsley or basil sprig.
6. Serve with a tossed salad and crusty bread. (I make the salad ahead and buy the bread that morning.)
7. Light candles and put on some Michael Buble singing Georgia.
If you don't have plans for tonight you could make this for your child, some neighbors, or your girlfriends. Or even put some worship music on and let Christ be your date.
Then again, if Rick were out of town, I might just order in some pizza, take a bubble bath, then climb in bed with a good novel. Either way, all is well.
Because we are God's beloved.

As a divorced woman, Valentine's can be really hard but the past two years I have chosen to focus on my love for Christ and His ultimate sacrifice for me because of pure love. I am so thankful to know Jesus and am overwhelmed at the outpouring of love He displays to me. Just this morning, the sun was shining with rays streaming across the sky....absolutely beautiful and He placed it there just for me. Amazing Love, Unconditional Love....

Nothing in particular special for me today as there's other needs to be taken care of like taking aging parent to the clinic, and a troop of kids to come back to. But then again...it was an awesome day in the ordinary day, had some precious moments with Jesus while driving...and ended the night with reading your devo while waiting for my hubby to come home late from ministering. Still a sweet end of the day with the Lord.
ReplyDeleteNothing particular special today for me as there's other needs to attend to like taking aging parent to the clinic and coming back to attend to a troop of kids. But had an awesome moment with Jesus while driving. Then ending my night by reading your devo while waiting for my minister hubby to return home late tonight after ministry. ReplyDeleteFunny, I have the some of the same verses on my blog today.
ReplyDeleteAs a single parent, I plan to celebrate tonight with my son because as you said because, as you said, all is well with God's beloved.
This is the best Valentine, that God loved me soooo much he sent his Son, who loves me too!!! and he went to the cross for me and for you! That's just the "BEST" Valentine ever!!! Thank you for pointing that out to me.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day! My hubby and I went out to eat on an "early" Valentine's day dinner on Sat evening. We have a 3 week old baby boy and it was the first time I've been away from him so it was difficult. I think it's important to keep romance alive, despite the exhaustion and excitement of a new baby so we went (despite a few tears from me) and we both ended up having a wonderful meal and conversation.
ReplyDeleteTonight we will be at home enjoying our 2 children and probably watching a movie.

ReplyDeleteNo matter what our relationship status, there will always be a huge God-shaped hole in our heart. That can often leave us feeling less than complete no matter whether we have a valentine or not, family or not, children or not. BUT the beautiful truth is that we will always have Him, and we can rest assured that He is more than able and willing to fill that void. Thank you Jesus and thank you Rachel for your wisdom!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day to you! Thanks for your words of inspiration. I look forward to the pick me ups. Jesus is the best valentine anyone could ever have. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day!
ReplyDeleteWe're half down with the evening here...made chicken fetuccini alfredo and picked up some cheesecake for the kids and hubby...plan to cuddle up with honey and maybe watch a movie:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines
ReplyDeleteDay, Rachel! I never considered making Christ my valentine...
My husband had to work tonight and my two teen-agers are downstairs on the TV. Am I sad? No, my husband and I always treat our teen-agers to treats on V-day. He gives my daughter something(red roses sent to school) and I give my son something (candy sent to school) They love it and we love doing it. Happy Valentines Day Everyone~! May God truly bless you!

Hi Rachel, I can't wait to read your book "It's No Secret". It's definitely on my To Read list for this year.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I mutually agreed to not make Vday a big deal this year. He had gotten me a card from my 4 yr old son which is as precious as candies or candelight dinner for me.
I'm loving meditating on God's love for me tonight. Actually will take some tonight tonight to read His Word. Thanks for the reminder of His great love for me. I certainly am crazy in love with Him.
As days like today approach (or any day) where I feel some disconnect from the earthly ones I dearly love, I'm so comforted in remembering that God fills that void. No matter who or what I try to fill it with on earth, it never quite satisfied until I turn to Him! What a perfect reminder of His love -- the ULTIMATE Love!! Your words are always a blessing! Thank you for sharing your talent.
ReplyDeleteAs holidays and other days like today arrive when I feel disconnected from loved ones, it's great to be reminded that only God can fill that void. When others let me down, what a relief it is to know that He never will! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and letting God use you! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI just signed up today for your blog and the daily devotional.
