Grateful

It's Thanksgiving week - a time to celebrate God's goodness, and a time to eat God's bounty like it has no calories.

I'm thankful for both the goodness and the bounty. (The calories I could probably do without.)

This has been a year of ups and downs for me. Of both bitter and sweet. Through it all I am grateful for God's steadfast presence. I am thankful He works all things out for good for those who follow Him.

 from Country Living

What are you grateful for this week?

Stop by here this holiday weekend at some point between your football watching and Christmas shopping and I'll have a little something fun to offer each and every one of you. For free. :) - Happy Thanksgiving.

  3. This year, I am struggling. Life is a painful struggle, wearying. I too have a list of happy and good things that I can be thankful for, but more than anything, I am thankful for the cross. I am thankful that Jesus is acquainted with suffering and can meet me where I am. I am thankful for God's grace and how time and time again, God proves that His grace IS sufficient for me. I am thankful for God's peace, that fills my soul as I walk through a long, and lonely valley. I am thankful for God's had of protection on my daughters through these difficult moments. I am thankful for God's love, that reaches down to me, even when I am unlovable and consumed with the ugliness of negativity. I am thankful that Jesus offers us, not only salvation, but maturity. I am thankful that God does not waste hurt, but uses it to heal, to develop His attributes in us, to let His glory flow through us. This year, I will thank God, not with dancing and laughter, but with trust and hope, grateful that God invites me daily to walk beside Him.

  5. I am thankful that even though we will be miles apart this Thanksgiving, my children are healthy and are learning to deal with the trials and disappoints of life as adults. I am thankful for grandchildren who make me laugh and give me hope for the future. I am thankful for a husband who loves God and seeks His path. And I am thankful I had a mother who showed me the importance of family traditions and acceptance. I miss her so but know she is with God and am thankful for that as well.

  7. Last year I had broken my C1 vertebre and was unable to cook my usual Thanksgiving meal. But was thankful to have my mom, mother in law to pick up my duties. This year I am happy to be alive, with no neurological damage and able to cook my Thanksgiving meal for my family. I am in my Fathers loving care watching over me and my family. God Bless you for your wonderful reminder of all we have to be Thankful for.

  8. I am so grateful that my husband and I are in the midst of a huge move from the East Coast back to the Midwest and up to my ears in boxes this Thanksgiving. This is an answer to a long-prayed for prayer! Although I won't be preparing the meal this year, I am so thankful for the family that has invited us to share theirs. Next year I host my family for the first time in a very long time! Thanks be to God.

  9. I am thankful today for my children. What a miracle and blessing they are! I am thankful that I am able to watch them grow and learn about God. I am also thankful for the son I lost. I am thankful for the moments that I was able to spend with him and that God was wiser than me and did not allow him to be in pain, and took him to Heaven to be with him.

  10. I have more to be thankful than there is space to list! But I must say I am thankful for the trials, most recently for physical and financial, because I have seen how I have grown in my faith. The especially lovely part is others have noticed my peace in difficult times. Praise the Lord!

  12. Oh, how HE loves me, let me count the ways! I have so very much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, but I'm most thankful for HIS sustaining power. This last year has been one of the hardest years for our family walking this jobless journey. But God has been faithful in providing in some AMAZING ways! Although it has been the hardest year we've had to walk, it has also been the most precious knowing HIM in ways I never would have had I not had to walk this journey.

Thankfulness is a powerful practice that has helped me through on a daily basis. Thank you for your post and encouraging us to give thanks.

Thanksgiving blessings to you and yours,
    Pam

  16. Of course I am grateful to God for so many good things. And in that thanks, I am more than thankful for the perspective he has given me to be able to be thankful and grateful for those 'blessings' that aren't always so easily seen.

Wanted to also say your P31 daily devotional today was simply lovely and I will truly enjoy reading it tomorrow and each Thanksgiving here on out for inspiration! I printed it to share with a friend during our traditional Thanksgiving morning "turkey trot" walk! Blessings to you and your family!

  17. For many years, I dreaded the moment with my extended family when we would go around the Thanksgiving table sharing why we were thankful. It always seemed to be the same for me, "my family and friends." That was about it. I had to endure the good things happening in everyone else's life but since nothing good ever seemed to be happening in my own life, I was just thankful for the obvious. But during the last 2 1/2 years, God has taken me down a very difficult path with much pain and heartache. I have learned how to be truly thankful for my very breath of life each and every day... how to appreciate the beauty in the world around me... how to remember that old rugged cross with such gratitude that I am daily brought to tears. Oh, and yes... I am still so thankful for my precious children and family... even more than ever! :)

  21. How do you put into words just some of the thankfulness I have today? We moved this weekend. A 911 message to friends brought hands and vehicles to help on a deadline (I am thankful). God has given me a home that is mine till I choose to sell. (I am thankful). My family is currently asleep on various pieces of furniture, safe and secure. (I am thankful). My friend who cooks for a restaurant at a major truck stop is cooking an awesome feast for the people of the world that delivers everything we need to survive in our day to day demands (I am thankful). I am thankful that we will have a hearty meal together, even if it is in a restaurant because there are boxes absolutely everywhere in my home. I am thankful, because my Heavenly Father gives me things to be thankful for. That my relationship with HIM is what makes me thankful. May your days be blessed with a relationship with the most precious give the world has ever been given.

  23. I am grateful that despite the horrible things that happen in this world, and the things done outside of God's will, all things work for the good of those who love Him and there is still beauty in the world for as long as Jesus lives! I am thankful for my family and standing in the gap as a family to those who have none. Jesus rocks!

  24. Dear Rachel, What an Amazing and inspiring message you gave us today! I was picturing in my mind as you wrote each and every line and word as if it were me and I was as equally Greatful for all of the things you listed and to my Mom for sharing it with me:)I Lost my Son on Thanksgiving Day 22yrs ago and although it has Always been a difficult Holiday for me, I have NEVER turned my Back on GOD or his Love and have Always found Plenty to be Thankful for each year....such as the 2 Healthy Children he has given me and this year I am also Thankful for a Healthy and Beautiful Grand Daughter as well:) But Another Huge thing I am Thankful for is the right to sit at our own dinner tables and Pray and Worship and Thank the Lord for his Blessings and Read that one of Many Bibles on the Shelf.... Because, MY Wonderful - Hard working Husband and Thousands Like him in the US Military, are out there somewhere, Not with their families on this day of Thanksgiving to ensure that stays the case! I Miss him Terribly as he has been gone for almost 6months now, Yet I am Thankful that he even has a Job and that is such a Hard Worker and a Good Provider and a Loving Father, Grandfather, Husband and Christian! Thankful that he is Alive and Safe and that my Whole Family woke up in our Own warm beds all around the World, Alive - Healthy and Free! God Bless you Rachel and God Bless America! Also, Merry CHRISTmas and Thanks be to GOD for his Gift to us:)

  27. I am grateful to God for His provision for all of my needs! He gave me strength and wisdom to leave an abusive marriage this past spring. He has surrounded me with loving friends and family members and is showering me with more blessings than I ever asked for.
He is able to give me the things HE wants me to have, as long as I lift open hands to Him, letting the things of this world (including my marriage) fall away to make room for His best!
