Devotional Carnival - JOY

Welcome writers and readers. Ready to meet by the Ferris Wheel and share a frozen lemonade? The last few months' devotional carnivals have been so great; we're doing it again. This month's topic? JOY - that particular brand of uplifted happiness God promises to richly supply the heart set on Him.

To participate, post a devotion about joy on your blog today. It can be anything at all (biblical) about this topic, just keep it around 650 words or less and include a key verse your devotion illustrates. Include a note with link back here that you're participating in this month's devotional carnival. Then come type in your name and the URL to your blog post below. Make sure you are entering the link to your specific devotion post and not just your general blog address. Mr. Linky does the rest.

Follow the links to read others' devotions if you just want to read today. If you're reading, I hope you'll leave some comments to encourage these writers.

Leave a comment below telling me which Bible translation you most often read and you'll be entered to win your choice of the following Chrisitan books: The Pastor's Wife a novel by Jennifer AlLee, or Awaken the Leader in You, non-fiction by Dr. Linda Clark. I'll publish the winner here on Friday afternoon around 3:00 EST, so jump in the carnival and comment before then! I'm off to the spinning tea cups ...

Thankful for the inspirational words of others.

  5. Actually, it takes 2 for me, that's how much help I need, LOL!! I'm reading the New Living Translation in my daily journey of reading the Bible within a year, but my favorite is the New King James Version. It is my Sunday Bible,my reference Bible, and my underlined Bible!

  16. I love that you do this!

I recommended this topic to one of my blogger friends, Sara (also known as Gitzen Girl)... because to me, she is the epitome of JOY amidst extremely difficult circumstances. She models this concept of joy so inspirationally!

  17. Hi, Rachel! :) Will look forward to reading the devos on JOY! :)

My favorite Bible I've had for 25 years is NIV. Love it. I also read NKJV and some KJV. I stick as close as possible to those. Just a conviction I have.

The Message is considered a book, not a translation of the Bible. I also don't read the NLT. Again, just a personal conviction I have before the Lord to honor Him by honoring His written Word. I believe God blesses beyond measure as we honor Him that way.

"You have exalted above all things Your name and Your word." Psalm 138:2

    Joy to you, Rachel!

  18. First time visiting and love this! I'm kind of a Bible junkie and love to hear how different versions share His truth. Most recently, NLT has been my "drug of choice" for daily devotional reading but NIV has been my study Bible standard for years and years.

  19. As a first-time reader I was truly blessed by this post especially on a day when I learnt that I didn't get that shiny new job that I was qualified for and was believing God for. But he is in control. I am about to retrieve my favourite NIV Women of Faith Study Bible to get some encouragement from my true source. God Bless. As a Christian writer I am encouraged by you to share my thoughts, experiences and encouragement with others through a similar blog. Keep on usining your gifting for the furtherance of the Kingdom.

  23. Thanks for inviting us to share what God is teaching us about JOY! Can't wait to read the different posts! I like two versions of the Bible. Beginning this year I have been using The Message for my quiet times. Usually, however, I use the NIV.

  24. Thanks so much for the opportunity to share different ideas and thought on this word Joy. For bibles I have the NIV next to me but use other resources like Biblegateway.com to look up several other versions as well. I like to compare sometime the different translations. I really like my Study Bible because it brings the scripture to a more personal level sometimes. Bless yoU!
